The Serbian state leadership received Thursday in Belgrade the President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic and RS Parliament speaker Nenad Stevandic.
Vucic said that he spoke with the President of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday about the draft resolution calling for July 11 to be declared the international remembrance day for the Srebrenica genocide.
“On Monday I will send a special envoy with a letter, and request a review of the violation of all procedures, as it is the obligation of the Security Council to address the issue of BiH in accordance with the UN Charter,” said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
“It is the obligation of the UN Security Council to focus on the issue of BiH because it is still an unstable region, because international forces are still present there, including what they call the High Representative. If it weren’t, why would he exist and why would they send him,” said Vucic, reported the Serbian state TV (RTS).
He added that he was saying this because some countries want to transfer decision-making from the Security Council to the UN General Assembly.
“They then also violated one more thing. From a required two-thirds majority vote, precisely because this concerns something that could either endanger or preserve peace, they came to the point where it’s about a simple commemoration and culture of remembrance, requiring a simple majority,” said Vucic, referring to a vote on a resolution on Srebrenica.
Dodik added that not even a simple majority of the total number is required, but just majority.
Following the meeting at the Villa Peace in Belgrade, Milorad Dodik said that there was no genocide in Srebrenica and that the mechanism in The Hague wants to link it to collective responsibility, and that this was one of the topics discussed.
“I will do everything to convince Aleksandar Vucic by May 5 to back the decisions of the RS,” said Dodik, adding that the invented UN act does not have the BiH authorities’ consent and that it is directly aimed against the RS.
Republika Srpska will have a series of activities, we will have a Parliament sitting, we will organize a rally in Banja Luka, the Parliament will pass decisions, said Dodik.
He noted that Republika Srpska will withdraw from decision-making in BiH if such a decision regarding the genocide in Srebrenica is adopted. Dodik added that some keep trying to lay the blame on the Serbs, yet they seek coexistence.
“3,500 Serbs and some 4,100 Bosniaks were killed in Srebrenica, and only the suffering of the Bosniaks is favored,” said the RS President.
