Serbian MUP says 14 dead in construction site fires this year
The Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) said on Tuesday that 14 people were killed in more than 1,500 fires at construction sites this year.
A Facebook post said that a total of 1,565 fires had been reported this year.
According to the MUP post, most of the fires were caused by faulty chimneys, improper use of heaters and faulty electricity wiring.
An earlier post said that 3,199 fires broke out at construction sites since the start of the heating season last October, adding that 40 people were killed in those fires and 127 injured.
Serbia’s firefighters are part of the MUP.
