Serbian opposition leader Dragan Djilas on Thursday accused the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of endangering his fellow party official Marinika Tepic by publishing photoshopped pictures of her.

Djilas, leader of the Party of Freedom and Justice, issued a statement after SNS MP Nebojsa Bakarec published a faked picture of Tepic and the recently arrested organized crime boss Veljko Belivuk who has claimed to have close ties to the ruling party and President Aleksandar Vucic. Djilas said that the SNS is jeopardizing Tepic’s life by trying to link the opposition to “their bloody trail of links to the Mafia”.

Djilas said that Bakarec consciously published the lie adding that the same fake picture was then published by Nebojsa Krstic, a staunch supporter of Vucic and his ruling party who, Djilas said, was involved in trying to make Tepic out to be a Mafia icon.

“We have been subjected to attacks organized by the SNS every day while the SSP has been increasing its support among the electorate. He warned that the SNS has now chosen the Levijatan right-wing organization to replace Belivuk and his crime clan. Levijatan activists tried to disrupt a SSP gathering a few days ago.
