The Diocese of New Gracanica-Midwestern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church awarded the Order of Saint Bishop Mardari to Vojislav Seselj, the Serbian Radical Party said.

Bishop Irinej of Backa awarded the Order to Seselj, who said that it was a great pleasure and honour for him to receive this award. He stressed that in his career he successfully fought to overcome the divides in the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States of America and Canada.

Seselj was sentenced to ten years in prison by the Hague Tribunal in 2018 for inciting the persecution, deportation and forced displacement and relocation of Croats in the Vojvodina village of Hrtkovci in 1992.
