Serbian patriarch discusses importance of national unity, peace with Vucevic
The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), Patriarch Porfirije, held a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister caretaker Milos Vucevic, during which he emphasized the importance of preserving national unity and the “necessity of achieving peace within ourselves and peace among us,” said a press release posted on the SPC website.
It added that the meeting took place on April 14, and that, in addition to Vucevic, the patriarch also spoke with the outgoing Culture Minister, Nikola Selakovic.
“The interlocutors stressed the significance of maintaining national unity. The Patriarch reiterated the necessity of achieving peace within ourselves and peace among us, highlighting the importance of continuing fruitful collaboration between the Church and state and social entities for the benefit of all citizens,” the SPC said.
Milos Vucevic is the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), while Selakovic is a member of the party.
