The Serbian traffic police will conduct an international campaign for enhanced traffic control from June 17 to 23, aimed at detecting violations related to driving under the influence of alcohol and psychoactive substances, said the Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP).

It said that, as part of the operation carried out simultaneously in 31 European countries and members of the European Traffic Police Network (ROADPOL), Friday, June 21 will see ROADPOL’s Alcohol and Drugs Marathon across Europe, when all available breathalyzers and devices for detecting psychoactive substances will be continuously deployed in traffic controls.

In the light of numerous upcoming music festivals in the country that are expected to attract thousands of visitors, the Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry appealed to citizens “not to drive if they have consumed alcohol or psychoactive substances, and to contribute to road safety by behaving responsibly.”
