A Serbian police officer suspected of being part of an organized crime group fled to Albania from Montenegro, the Montenegrin police said.

A statement said that police officer Danilo Stojanovic escaped from border police at the Grncar crossing between Montenegro and Albania after his car was stopped. “Following a check of personal ID, police officers directed the vehicle to second checkpoint but DS left the vehicle to escape,” it said and added that there was no warrant for Stojanovic when he entered Montenegro on April 14 or when he crossed into Albania on April 17.

Danilo Stojanovic is suspected of being a part of the organized crime group headed by alleged drug lord Darko Saric who was arrested last week along with several members of the group in an operation coordinated by EUROPOL and EUROJUST in Serbia and Croatia.
