The Serbian power company (EPS) Independence Union – the Thermal power plant Nikola Tesla (TENT) branch, has decided to go on strike, union’s chief representative Dragoslav Ljubicic told Danas.

He said they are awaiting approval from the UGS Independence trade union federation, after which they will begin a protest gathering in front of the EPS headquarters in Belgrade, as well as the administrative buildings of all EPS branches.

“The law stipulates that strike activities can begin five days after the announcement. We need to get approval from UGS Nezavisnost, and then we will proceed, but the strike will happen even without the approval if the workers’ assembly decides so,” Danas quotes Ljubicic as saying.

The strike committee has outlined their demands, which include fulfilling the protesting students’ demands, holding accountable those responsible for the disastrous state of the energy sector, and the removal of EPS General Director, Executive Board, Supervisory Board, and General Assembly, as well as the Mining and Energy Minister.
