Serbian President decorates Kosovo Serb police officers
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic decorated two former Kosovo police officers on Wednesday.
The medals were presented to Nenad Djuric who was suspended by the Kosovo government from the post of chief of the Kosovo police Region North and police Captain Aleksandar Filipovic who headed the Mitrovica North operational directorate. Djuric was suspended for refusing to issuing warnings and fines to drivers with Serbian-issued license plates following the October 31 deadline set by the government for re-registration with Republic of Kosovo plates. Several hundred Serb officers resigned from the Kosovo police after the suspension.
Djuric received a Medal for services in defense and security while Filipovic received a medal for courage. “You obeyed your state even when you didn’t agree with its decisions. You did what your heart told you and acted honorably when you were prevented from doing your duty,” Vucic said at the ceremony. He said that both men would get state administration jobs.
