Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic promised higher minimum wages by the end of the year on Wednesday.
Speaking during a tour of the first section of the Peace Highway between the southern city of Nis and the Merdare crossing into Kosovo, Vucic said that the minimum wage to about 400 Euro by the end of the year. The minimum wage now stands at 40,000 Dinars a month or about 340 Euro.
Vucic also thanked European Union Ambassador Emanuel Giaufret for the EU gift of 40 million Euro to build the highway, saying that was enough to build up to 4 kilometers of the highway.
