Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that the authorities have met every demand made by the organizers of the road block protests, adding that any more demands will be purely political.

The president sent back to parliament two controversial laws which environmental organizations said were intended to accommodate the Rio Tinto company’s plans to open a lithium mine. The demands made by the protest organizers were for the withdrawal of the newly adopted laws on referendums and expropriation.
“We met the demands. I listened to the people including the people in the village of Gornje Nedeljice who are directly affected. What politicians have to say does not interest me,” Vucic said at a groundbreaking ceremony for a factory in Novi Sad.
