Serbian Prime Minister does not rule out investigations into former ministers

Serbian Prime Minister in resignation, Milos Vucevic, stated on Sunday that more actions in the fight against corruption are expected. However, he expressed hope that prosecutors would also investigate events that occurred before the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power.

Speaking as a guest on TV Pink, Vucevic said that the state has the strength to fully enforce the law against everyone. This response came after he was asked whether the state has the will to prosecute its former ministers, as some media reports have suggested, and whether that could lead to the arrest of Nebojsa Stefanovic, Zorana Mihajlovic, or anyone else if evidence is found.
"I cannot speculate as you do; you have the freedom as a journalist to ask such questions. I have no information that the individuals you mentioned are under investigation, but that does not mean they are not under investigation. I truly do not have that information," Vucevic said.
He was referring to former high-ranking ministers from the ruling SNS: Nebojsa Stefanovic and Zorana Mihajlovic.
Stefanovic previously served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Internal Affairs and was a close associate of President Aleksandar Vucic. He withdrew from the public eye following reports of a conflict with Vucic, with pro-government tabloids at the time accusing him of plotting against the president.
Mihajlovic, on the other hand, held ministerial positions overseeing energy, transportation, construction, and infrastructure. She has since left SNS.
