Serbia’s Organized Crime Prosecution has indicted the organized crime group headed by Veljko Belivuk, the Serbian state TV (RTS) said quoting a Tanjug report.
Prosecutors indicted 31 members of the crime group, including protected witnesses. The indictment was filed with the Special Section of the Higher Court in Belgrade for confirmation, the RTS said adding that no other details were released. An investigation against Belivuk, his lieutenant Marko Miljkovic and the rest of the group was launched on February 5 and was expanded to include more crimes six times.
Belivuk and his group were arrested on suspicion of having committed murders and drug trafficking and have not been released since the arrest. Belivuk and Miljkovic told prosecutors in separate statements that they had close contacts with ranking state and party officials, including President Aleksandar Vucic who demanded several favors, including taking control of the Partizan FC supporters opposed to Vucic. Belivuk’s group operated under the guise of one of the Partizan supporter organizations and even had offices at the Partizan FC stadium. The group is also alleged to have close ties with the Kavacki crime clan in Montenegro. The group is also alleged to have used an industrial meat grinder to dispose of the bodies of their victims.
Speaking last week, Organized Crime Prosecutor Mladen Nenadic told reporters that the Belivuk group were being charged with associating to commit crimes, five murders, drug and firearms trafficking, a rape and a kidnapping.
