The Serbian state TV (RTS) announced it is taking disciplinary action against an employee in the entertainment program executive production unit for disrupting a colleague’s live report from a protest outside RTS headquarters in downtown Belgrade.

RTS said in a statement posted on its website that the disciplinary process aims to determine accountability for a breach of workplace duties.

The incident occurred on April 16, 2025, during a live broadcast for the morning news. RTS said the employee reportedly interfered with reporter Jelena Baranin by shouting and cursing at the entire crew as they prepared to cover a student-led blockade outside RTS.

“Her outburst in front of the camera encouraged others, who then began obstructing the lens, flashing middle fingers, and hurling insults at the reporting team,” the statement read.

Based on the facts and evidence, RTS will conduct a thorough investigation and impose the strictest possible sanctions on the employee, it said.
