Tanker cars derailed on Wednesday outside the city of Sabac, the Serbian Railways Infrastructure company said in a press release.

It said that the tanker cars were empty and added that there is no danger to the population or environment. “The S-Rail train included a total of 25 tanker cars, all of them empty,” the press release said. Rail traffic was interrupted and an investigation was launched.

The Serbian railways have reported a number of derailings over the past few years, including at least one when toxic substances leaked posing danger to the population and environment.
