The Serbian government’s Science Fund said on Monday that it was launching a program of support for young researchers and scientists in the early stages of their careers.

The Program for Еxcellent Projects of Young Researchers and Scientists in the Early Stage of Career – PROMIS 2023 is intended to support excellent projects of young researchers and scientists in the early stages of their careers, up to 7 years after finishing the PhD. The program supports basic and applied research in all scientific fields. Projects within this Program do not have predetermined topics,” a press release said.

It added that the program will allow young researchers to define their own research programs, form their own teams and cooperate with laboratories and research centers in Serbia and abroad, strengthen the professional capacities of young PhDs, train young researchers to apply for research and development projects at national and international level, especially in the European Union, and to support the scientific research of the young academic community, which will have an impact and significance for social development and the economy.

The budget of the 2 year program is 4 million Euro with the maximum amount for each individual project set at 150,000 Euro. The money will be secured by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation from a World Bank loan and the European Union, through a grant. The program is part of the “Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship Project” (SAIGE Project), dedicated to strengthening innovative entrepreneurship and scientific research.
