Serbian state roads company starts work on roads to Novi Sad

According to a press release on the Putevi Srbije portal, traffic will have to take alternate routes as of Wednesday. It said that some major roads leading to the northern Serbian city will be closed to traffic for what the company said is “road rehabilitation work”.

Serbian students from across the country have called for a mass commemorative gathering on Saturday November 1, the first anniversary of the collapse of a concrete canopy at the recently reconstructed Novi Sad Railway Station which claimed 16 lives.

Road work, cancellation of inter-city buses and trains for a variety of reasons have happened prior to major protests over the past year. At least one private bus company has suffered damages to its vehicles.
