Serbian statistics office says food prices 20 percent higher

The Republic Statistics Office (RZS) said on Monday that food prices in Serbia are more than 20 percent higher than a year ago.

It said that consumer prices were 13.2 percent higher in August 2022 than in the same month a year earlier with food prices rising 20.9 percent.

According to the RZS, vehicle fuels and lubricants rose by 20.9 percent compared to a year earlier while vehicle maintenance costs rose by 17.3 percent. Housing rental costs rose by 21.3 percent as well.

The RZS said that products and services prices in August compared to July were 1.2 percent higher on average.
