Student relay ultramarathoners from Serbia, en route to Brussels, have arrived in Osijek, Croatia, where a festive welcome was prepared for them. Citizens and fellow students from the Osijek initiative "Student with Student" greeted them in Vatroslav Lisinski Square with cheers of "Pumpaj" (Pump it up) and refreshments.
A red ribbon was set up across Vatroslav Lisinski Square, through which the student relay ultramarathoners passed. They covered their initial 105 kilometres.
Their peers held banners with inscriptions such as "Pumpaj," "One world, one fight," "People of Subotica in Osijek," "We do not stand aside, we stand with you," and "Solidarity has no borders."
Some of the students will spend the night in a hostel, while others will stay with Osijek residents who offered them accommodation.
The students embarked on an 18-day journey to Brussels, where a session of the European Parliament is scheduled to discuss the situation in Serbia.
