Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic submitted his resignation on Wednesday, the media reported.

“I hereby inform you that I am resigning from the post of minister of internal and external trade. I am grateful to the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic for his trust and for the (Statehood Day) honor. I will always be there for him and for Serbia,” Momirovic wrote in a letter of resignation to Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, the Tanjug news agency reported.

Momirovic served as the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure in Ana Brnabic’s cabinet from 2020 to 2022, following which he was appointed as Minister of Internal and External Trade for two terms.

Before Momirovic, Goran Vesic resigned on November 5 from his position as Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure. His resignation followed public pressure after a concrete canopy roof collapsed at the Novi Sad main railway station, which resulted in 14 fatalities, with one more person dying from injuries afterward. Two others remain in critical condition in the hospital.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday evening that further resignations related to the Novi Sad tragedy are expected “as early as tomorrow.”
