Serbia's Government appointed Maja Gojkovic, Minister of Culture and Information, and Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister of European Integration, as members of the Faculty of Political Sciences' Council, despite the Law on Higher Education did not envisage politicians as members such bodies, nova.rs website reported on Monday.

The website said it wasn’t clear on what basis the two, both also officials of the ruling Serbia Progressive Party (SNS), were appointed.

The Law, it added, „clearly states that the members of the council of the higher education institution, whose founder is the Republic, are appointed by the Government from the ranks of prominent personalities in the field of science, culture, education, art and economy.“
