Serbia’s immunologist: Annual vaccination against coronavirus may be a must

Miodrag Colic, a clinical immunologist and a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), said on Wednesday that people would probably have to be immunised against the coronavirus annually because, on average, each vaccine could last about a year.

He told the state RTS TV Serbia was nearing a herd immunity but advocated caution because not much had been known about the coronavirus yet.

“A decline in the epidemic is expected, and the vaccination contributes to that, as well as the approaching summer. However, I believe we will have to fight against the coronavirus in autumn again, but probably not at the same level as until now,” Colic said.
