Serbia's industrial production down compared to 2023
Serbia saw its industrial production drop by 1.1 percent in May 2024 compared to the same month a year earlier and was 1.9 percent lower than the average for 2023, said the Republic Statistics Office (RZS).
In the period January / May 2024 relative to the same period 2023, industrial production increased by two percent, it said.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for May 2024, compared to April 2024, indicates that overall industrial production grew by 2.7 percent, and manufacturing by 2.1 percent.
In May of this year compared to May 2023, mining saw an increase of 28.9 percent, while the manufacturing industry experienced a decline of two percent. The supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning recorded a decrease of 9.1 percent, said the RZS.
