The search for Matej Peris, from the Dalmatian port city of Split, who disappeared in Belgrade on the night between December 30 and 31,2021, is still on, according to Serbia's Interior Ministry (MUP), the state RTS TV has reported on Thursday.

Besides the police, ordinary people are also looking for him and have created public search groups on social networks.
Milos Stanimirovic from the MUP's Search Department told RTS that it received a dozen reports daily that Matej Peris was seen somewhere.

"We must react to every report. We check every report. So, if it is reported that Matej was seen at a certain location, we make a field check, we talk to people, but so far we have not come to any new information about his whereabouts," he said.

"Since the day when the report on the disappearance of the Croatian citizen Mateja Peris was submitted, we are looking for him. The movement route has been determined, both for Matej and the company with which he came from Zagreb to Belgrade," Stanimirovic told RTS.

He added that Matej had been looked for since the report on his disappearance was submitted.

Serbia's Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said the police were checking all the information about Peris. The Croatian Interior Ministry confirmed there was no indication that Matej's disappearance was linked to violence.

Nenad Peris, Matej's father, said that, considering the time that had passed, his hope was slowly diminishing but that he thought the search for Matej would nevertheless end happily.
