Newly elected public prosecutors took the oath of office on Tuesday at the Serbian Parliament in the presence of Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac and Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic.

This marks the official start of their terms, as 51 public prosecutors took office more than a year after being elected to the position by the High Prosecutorial Council in February last year.

“For success in this service, cooperation and mutual trust with other state bodies and institutions, both at home and abroad, are essential,” Dolovac said.

She emphasized that the mission of a public prosecutor “demands professionalism, personal integrity, and authority, especially at a time when we face new criminal justice challenges that can only be met through lawful, competent, professional, and responsible work.”

“Always act in accordance with the Constitution and the law, but also in accordance with your own integrity, as honor, independence, and responsibility are the foundations of the prosecutorial office,” Dolovac told the new appointees.
