Dragan Djilas, the leader of Serbia’s opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), told a Montenegrin TV on Thursday he had met Dragan Solak, the United Group founder and Advisory Board Chairman, only once or twice, and denied any links to the selling of the Podgorica ‘Vijesti’ TV.

He also said he had no links to any TV channel in Serbia.

Belgrade regime has constantly been linking Djilas and Solak as the two leading players behind media in Serbia critical of the authorities.

“I met Solak once or twice. That campaign in Serbia is so strong; it lasts eight, nine years. Everything is ‘Djilas – Solak’. And no one in Serbia knows Solak,” Djilas said.

He added that if someone looked realistically, they would see that TV channels the regime linked him to “criticise my party and the opposition in Serbia.”

“They don’t work to our benefit. But you can also hear the criticism of the regime in Serbia and (President) Aleksandar Vucic,” Djilas said.

He added there were five TV channels with national frequency and recalled he had not been invited to the public broadcaster RTS for three years.

Unlike Serbia, Djilas said that Montenegro has national TV channels that were not entirely under the authorities’ control.

Djilas said he met Solak as the head of Serbia’s Golf Club in Belgrade, for which he said he denied a permit to expand.

“We didn’t have a great communication,” he added.

The other contact he said he had with Solak was as the Belgrade Mayor. He asked Solak‘s SBB company to help equip some schools in Serbia with satellite watching devices at some reasonable price.

“Dragan Solak then gave us a hundred such devices,” Djilas said.

He reiterated his belief that Vucic had the support of Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic while coming to power in Serbia.

“… They have done a lot of things together, and their regimes supported each other. They had close cooperation, but I don’t know what their relationship is now,” he said.
