Despite photos and statements saying the opposite, Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia’s President, denies knowing well or at all two Kosovo Serbs, a politician and a controversial businessman. Pročitaj više

Milan Radojicic, a deputy leader of the Serb List, the political organisation supported by Belgrade, and Zvonko Veselinovic, a businessman, are believed by Kosovo’s Serbs as men close to Belgrade authorities, especially to both Vucic and his brother Andrej.

Radojcic was among the suspects in the investigation into the assassination of a Serb opposition leader in Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic, gunned down outside his office in Northern Mitrovica in January 2018.

A Kosovo court withdrew a warrant for Radoicic in March 2021, but while looking for him, Radojicic found shelter in Belgrade.

Even before the decision, Vucic said he knew Radoicic was not “sinless,” but that he had proof Veselinovic wasn’t involved in Ivanovic’s murder.

In the meantime, investigative journalists found a link between Veselinovic and Vucic’s brother Andrej, supported by photos of the two – one selfie, one from a farm, then from the Mt. Kopaonik…

When the photos were published, Vucic commented he also had pictures with Veselinovic and asked – “why didn’t you find them?”

President again denied he had contact with either Radoicic or Veselinovic when an opposition leader alleged he was caught in the police legal wiretapping of the two.

Commenting on the statement by Marinika Tepic, a deputy leader of the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice, President said it was “a brutal lie,” adding he didn’t even have their numbers in his phone.

“To be honest, I think I met Zvonko Veselinovic twice in Kosovo and Metohija (the term the official Belgrade uses) and always publically spoke about that. I think we have never spoken. Maybe it was during my talks with the Serb List people to whom I pass on messages for the Serbs there, and they talk to me,” he said.

His memory could be revived with archive footage – at least one time, Radoicic was in the meeting with Vucic in Belgrade at the Parliamentarians’ Club in 2018.

Even not knowing Radoicic, Vucic described him as “a man who defends Serb people and their dwellings” in Kosovo.

Besides Andrej Vucic, President’s best man Nikola Petrovic is reported to have been spending a lot of time with Veselinovic and Radoicic.

The Crime and Corruption Reporting Network KRIK has published photos of them together.
