Addressing the online summit on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CCP), opened by President Xi Jinping, Serbia's head of state Aleksandar Vucic said the century of China's existence was the century of the greatest changes in human history, adding Belgrade wanted to continue strengthening ties with Beijing.

"China moved from a developing country receiving international aid to a superpower," Vucic said.

He added, "there was no other party or political organisation in the world which could boast of the results achieved by the CCP, including more than 700 million Chinese citizens who have been saved from poverty."

Vucic congratulated the centenary of the CCP's founding on behalf of the Serbian people and its citizens, "sincere admirers and a steel friend of China, " as well as on behalf of his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS),

He said that "the founders of the CCP managed to release the creative energy of the Chinese people violently suppressed for almost a whole century."

"Rationally and wisely adapting the teachings and practices of Marxism to Chinese conditions and laying the foundations of the practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Mao Zedong, Jiang Ce Min, Hu Jin Tao and you, dear friend Xi Jinping, led the greatest project of social development and poverty eradication," he added.

Vucic said the CPC guaranteed multilateralism in political and economic relations between sovereign states.

He said that thanks to China, Serbia's economy "got a new life and faith in the future," and praised Beijing for its support of his country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
