Serbia’s Vucic & EU’s Fabrizi: Belgrade must continue toward EU

N1

The agenda of Thursday's meeting between Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic and the head of the European Delegation in Belgrade Sem Fabrizi included the country's European path, fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of political and economic reforms, especially those related to the rule of law.

Vucic’s office’s statement cited him as saying his country had to continue its road to the EU and needed the bloc’s support to implement the reforms necessary for all citizens’ benefit.

„We’ll continue to work intensively on the European agenda so that we open new chapters (in the accession negotiations with the EU) and progress faster toward the full membership,“ Vucic was quoted as saying.

Fabrizi and Vucic discussed Serbia’s judicial reforms to adjust its legislation to the EU.

The two agreed Serbia should work more on the rule of law, including the fight against corruption, media freedom and the renewal of the inter-party dialogue and the resumption of the Belgrade-Pristina talks on the normalisation of relations.
