Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia's President, said late on Wednesday his country would resist all mafia pressures and win over those who thought that could rule helped by the mafia for someone's other interest, adding such attempts to bring down the state could not happen without foreign involvement.
"My message to those who are beheading people and their successors, to those who think they can blackmail Serbia by buying part of the media and spreading lies - you can do whatever you want, but I advise you to find the best solution to get rid of me because I will not obey," Vucic said in Abu Dhabi, where he is on an official visit.
He failed to name any foreigners who he had in mind.
Speaking to the pro-government Pink TV, Vucic said: "I'll fight against mobsters, tycoons and thieves." He told the people to feel safe and know those criminals would be defeated.
Vucic admitted he was wrong about some people appointed to certain places but believed that "there is no a living soul who doesn't make mistakes."
"I seem to be the only foul which took a polygraph," answering the question about some people who refused the test, including Vladimir Vuletic, a former official of the Partizan FC who wanted to take the test but was refused due to his health condition.
Commenting on Marinika Tepic, an opposition leader's claimthat Vucic's phone was not wire-tapped, but his calls were intercepted as a part of an investigation into a right-wing organisation chief Misa Vacic, Vucic said he talked to many people, like some political opponents, "worse than Vacic."
