The Balkan Free Media Initiative (BFMI) said on Twitter that “It is shameful that EURACTIV allows itself to become a platform for the apparent promotion of the Serbian government while neglecting to address the attacks against free media and the massive protests on the streets of Belgrade.”

On Twitter the BFMI describes itself as an independent watchdog that monitors the media environment across the “new democracies” in the “old continent” for inaccuracy, bias and censorship. In its tweet, it tagged European Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova, European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, the International Press Institute (IPI), the European Commission, USAID and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.

The BFMI also posted an announcement of a panel discussion organized by the media platform EURACTIV Serbia in Brussels on the topic “Beyond the 'Yes, But' idiom: Envisioning Serbia's future in the EU,” that Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Serbian Minister of European Integration Tanja Miscevic participated in.

EURACTIV is an independent pan-European media network specialized in EU affairs. It was established in 1999 and has partners all over Europe, as well as in Serbia.

EURACTIV network partner for Serbia is the Mondo portal, which operates within the Adria Media Group whose president is Igor Zezelj.

Brnabic visited Brussels on Tuesday where, in addition to taking part in the panel discussion, she also met with European Council President Charles Michel, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni and European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic.

The panelists also included European Commission Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman and Vladimir Bilcík, MEP, EP AFET - Member and Rapporteur for Serbia.
