“She keeps repeating like a parrot… Can’t she say anything else, for crying out loud?,” said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, commenting on European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos’ statement that his trip to Moscow complicates Serbia’s path to the European Union (EU).

“She repeats it, like a parrot, every time. Seems she has nothing else to say. Whatever anyone would ask her in the past ten days, she’d say – ‘oh, Vucic went to Moscow’ – c’mon, really, can’t you say anything else, for crying out loud? But when she meets with me, she’s not quite so eloquent. Her vocabulary becomes less rich,” Vucic said about Marta Kos.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said Tuesday that inclusive reforms are the best way out of the political crisis in Serbia, especially in terms of the media and election process.

But real progress in Serbia depends on restoring public trust and engaging all stakeholders, Kos explained. She said she told Aleksandar Vucic that his visit to Moscow sends the wrong signal and complicates efforts to advocate for Serbia.

Kos also met with Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic on Tuesday, and they discussed the opening of Cluster 3 in Serbia’s EU accession talks.

During her recent visit to Serbia, Kos emphasized that what Serbian students demand from Serbia is the same thing that the EU is asking from Serbia.
