SNS rally preparations under way in Belgrade ahead of Vidovdan gathering

SNS leader Milos Vucevic said the gathering, held ahead of Vidovdan, would present the name of the party’s list and part of its political programme.

According to N1’s reporter, metal barriers, fences, water supplies, food stands and a stage have been set up near the Serbian parliament and Pionirski Park, while traffic in the surrounding area has been restricted.

Banners reading “Serbia wins” have been placed around the site. At one intersection, organisers also set up an improvised installation marked “Blockaders’ Serbia”, accusing government opponents of “19 months of violence, harassment, insults, threats and refusal of dialogue”.

White tents have been placed along King Aleksandar Boulevard, which has been closed up to Beogradska Street. Food from several Belgrade restaurants, Serbian craft products and stalls are also part of the event setup.

A children’s programme was announced from 11 am, including slides, small football pitches, basketball hoops and entertainment stages. Organisers also announced a youth procession towards parliament at around 3 pm, followed by bikers at around 5 pm.

The main programme is expected to begin at 6 pm. It will include the presentation of robots named Milutin and Dragutin, a traditional moravac dance, and an address by the Serbian president.

Organisers also placed boxes where citizens can vote for areas they see as priorities for Serbia’s future development.

The event is not expected to last long because of high temperatures. A large Serbian flag is also due to be unfurled, while the entertainment programme includes singers Vesna Zmijanac and Aca Lukas.
