SNS supporters, officials block farm protest organizer’s home
A group of men alleged to be supporters and officials of the ruling party blocked the house of a farmers’ protest organizer but were forced to leave when other farmers blocked their cars with farm machines.
The group of men blocked access to the home of farmer Jovan Jovanov in the village of Bavaniste following Monday morning’s protest by farmers. They were forced to leave without their cars when angry farmers drove up in tractors and other farm machines.
Jovanov said that men in front of his home made no threats but told him that they were ordered to be there. He said that he recognized several local members of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and local officials.
The SNS supporters and officials had to call friends to come get them because their cars were blocked.
