Speaking to Pink TV, Bajatovic noted that although Europe has announced plans to phase out Russian gas by 2027, he does not believe this will happen. He said that Serbia, like several other European countries, lacks the technical capability to source its gas supply from elsewhere.
Regarding US sanctions against the Serbian Oil Industry, (NIS), Bajatovic said that more details will soon be known. However, he added that he believes the conditions are more favorable this time for NIS to have its special operating license extended than on the previous occasion.
Last week NIS submitted an official request for another sanctions delay to the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as the latest one-month special operating license expires on August 27.
