The President of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), Dragan Djilas, stated that he sincerely believes that the government is in trouble if the opposition does not participate in the Belgrade elections, scheduled for June 2.

„I honestly believe that the 2020 boycott served to make everyone realize that something is wrong in Serbia, that now the citizens of Serbia and the Europe we are striving for know that now,“ Djilas wrote in a text published by the newspaper Danas.

He noted that the fight for election conditions would be more difficult if the elections were held under the current conditions.

He also quoted the words of Appellate Court judge Miodrag Majic that in order to boycott elections „it is necessary to have elections – and we don’t have them“.

The members of the „Serbia against violence“ coalition, of which the SSP is a part, held a meeting on Friday, after which it was concluded that six parties were in favour of going to the elections, and three were against.
