State Department disappointed with calls for Kosovo Serbs to boycott census

We encourage all Kosovo citizens to fully participate in the population census, said the spokesperson.

He said accurate registration enables the fair distribution of state resources to all citizens, noting that the US recognizes the responsibility and authority of the Kosovo Government to conduct the population census.

The Kosovo population census began on April 5 and will last until May 17.

The Serb list said members of the Kosovo Serb community will not be taking part in this population census, citing “repression” by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s regime as one of the reasons, also because of the Central Bank of Kosovo regulation on the euro as the sole currency in Kosovo, making it difficult for them to receive payments in dinars from Serbia.
