The total number of people employed in Serbia stood at 2,355,857 in the first quarter of 2026, the Republic Statistics Office (RZS) announced on Wednesday.

Compared to the same quarter in 2025, total registered employment decreased by 9,037 people.

The sectors that saw the most significant job losses were manufacturing (down by 15,937), wholesale and retail trade and motor vehicle repair (down by 3,495), mining (down by 722), and agriculture, forestry, and fishing (down by 612), the RZS said.
