Statistics office says consumer prices rose 12.8 percent

The Republic Statistics Office (RZS) said on Friday that consumer prices rose 12.8 percent in the past year, adding that no product or service prices were lowered.

It said that food prices rose 20.3 percent between July 2021 and July 2022.

The RZS said that vehicle fuel prices rose by 28.3 percent while vehicle maintenance costs rose by 22.8 percent.

According to the statistics office, housing rental prices rose by 20.5 percent.

“Viewed by main product and services groups, in July 2022 compared to the previous month, rises in prices were registered in recreation and culture (3.2 percent), transport (2.3 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2 percent) housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (1.9 percent), housing maintenance (1.5 percent), health care (0.8 percent), restaurants and hotels (0.7 percent) and education (0.2 percent),” the RZS said.
