The Republic Statistics Office (RZS) said on Monday that fewer construction permits were issued in July this year compared to the same month a year earlier.

It said that 2,653 construction permits were issued in July 2024, 2 percent less than in July 2023. The RZS said that 83.5 percent of the permits were for building and 16.5 percent for civil engineering construction work. According to the RZS, 81.7 percent of the building permits were issued for housing. It said that 69.2 percent of the civil engineering construction permits were issued for pipelines, communications facilities and power lines.

“The anticipated value of new construction works in July 2024 amounted to 79.5% of the totally anticipated value of works,” it said.
