Deputy leader of the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) Borko Stefanovic said European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik is “retiring,” adding that he relativized the situation in Serbia and supported the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) throughout his term in office.

Stefanovic said in a written statement that Bilcik’s claims that the political situation in Serbia is better and more peaceful than it used to be are not true.

“On top of that he cynically added that he felt sorry for the opposition that did not participate in the June 2 fake elections in Belgrade. Don’t feel sorry for us. We did not agree to the election fraud carried out by your friends in the SNS. Should you happen to have a sudden attack of conscience, feel sorry for yourself for supporting, all along, the organized crime regime, which is, on top of everything, also anti-European,” said the SSP deputy leader.

Stefanovic said the ruling SNS and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic do not want Serbia to join the European Union (EU).

“I am sure you don’t feel sorry for the citizens of Serbia who have been harassed, subjected to mass vote buying, persecution, and blackmail by the regime that you have been turning a blind eye to for years. After all, you won’t be the one to live here. What will remain here forever, when we soon regain our freedom and normality, will be the shameful memory of your mission,” said Stefanovic.
