STP staff protest suspected dismissal of director due to support for students

Employees at the Science Technology Park (STP) in Belgrade staged a protest Monday amid suspicions that their director, Gordana Danilovic Grkovic, was dismissed due to her support for student protesters.
“We learned from the coordinator at the Science Technology Park that the director was dismissed overnight. Changes were expected, but colleagues are afraid of what will happen next and how the Science and Technology Park will transform. Such an abrupt removal has frightened us all. The former director is a hard-working person, a recipient of the Sretenje Order, and this institution is a pillar of progress, enabling our young professionals to stay here and develop new technologies and jobs instead of moving to Germany, Sweden, or Denmark. There’s no greater patriotism… She was probably dismissed for supporting the student protests. It’s neither legal nor moral,” said Park employee Aleksandar Milojkovic.
He explained that an inexperienced person has been appointed to the director's position, but said more information will be revealed in the coming week.
“This follows a pattern we have seen in recent months and years - people who don’t follow orders and who think for themselves are not welcome in this country… There is no longer a neutral position in our country, and we have come to advocate for law, justice, and ethics,” Milojkovic added.
The protest began at 11:52 am, when they paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the November 1 canopy collapse at the Novi Sad main train station.
