Student Relja Stanojevic, who was arrested during the incident at the November 5th protest in Novi Sad, was released from detention on Friday evening. Speaking to N1, he stated that in detention "there are no rights," and described the conditions as "completely inhumane."

"There are no rights there. There are all kinds of people there – but they are still people. When you are in such an institution, you feel like there is nothing within five kilometers of you, as if you are in the middle of a desert, bombarded by regime channels on the only TV in the room. It’s not fit for people. The conditions are totally inhumane," Stanojevic told N1.

The protest on November 5th in Novi Sad was held in response to the accident that occurred four days earlier, when the canopy at the entrance to the railway station in that city collapsed, killing 15 people. Stanojevic told N1 that he attended the protest as a student and a member of the Academy of Arts.

"I came to the streets primarily to pay respect to the victims, which I believe is the purpose of every person out there right now. I went out as a student, a member of the Academy of Arts. It was only in detention that I got into the judicial system and saw how it works, which is a problem that exists – the systems don’t function together," he noted.

Stanojevic was arrested while defending a girl attacked by hooded individuals, who later turned out to be undercover police officers. Former minister in the government of Vojvodina province, Goran Jesic, who was also in detention until Friday, came to his defense.
