They said that student Petar Zivkovic was assaulted around 1:30 am by a group of 5 masked men who hit him in the head a number of times. He was taken to the city Emergency Center.
An Instagram post said that he was assaulted as he left a cafe with several other law school students. “The group of men were waiting for him and they rushed him and two girl students with him. He was hit and threatened, the girls were pushed aside and ran off for help. When the group of men left Petar was taken to the Emergency Center for treatment for head and face wounds,” the post said.
Zivkovic told Nova.rs that the men approached him, saying something about his T-shirt before grabbing him and pushing him against a fence where they beat him until he started bleeding. He said he called his father to take him to the Emergency Center. Petar’s father Bogoljub Zivkovic was a police general who was retired by President Aleksandar Vucic late in 2024. The alleged reason for his early retirement was his son’s involvement in the student protests. Petar also featured prominently in the media earlier this year when he spoke about the protests.
