The students who rode bicycles to Strasbourg spoke about events in Serbia with MEPs at the European Parliament on Wednesday.
They spoke in detail about the March 15 protest in Belgrade when a sonic weapon was allegedly used against protesters and handed them a letter describing what they went through. An N1 reporter said that the expression on a French MEPs face showed that she never heard about the event.
The students also spoke about corruption and the lack of democracy in Serbia and the MEPs said they do not want to interfere in a country’s internal affairs but will help with their fight because it is for the right values. The MEPs praised the students for their achievement in riding to Strasbourg.
The students met with Croatian MEP Gordan Bosanac, Slovenian MEP Irena Joveva and French MEP Fabienne Keller
The MEPs said they would get other MEPs interested in the students’ cause and would even request a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
One of the students handed the MEPs whistles with bicycles and the Bloody Hand symbol on them and suggested they use their one minute each to make noise in the European Parliament. Another student said that they were in Strasbourg to seek help. “Our authorities do not represent the will of the people and are forced to seek help outside Serbia,” the student said.
