Student protests were held today at multiple locations across Serbia to commemorate the 15 people who lost their lives on November 1 in the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station entrance. Pročitaj više

Youth civil organizations „Svice“ and „Stav“ organized a support rally titled „I Think, Therefore I Block“ near the Rectorate Building of the University of Novi Sad. At 11:52 a.m., participants honored the victims and left messages written in red paint. Students and supporters chanted, „Your hands are bloody“ and „Murderers.“

A minor incident occurred in Novi Sad when a young man tried to provoke the protesters but was driven away by chants of „Leave.“

In Belgrade, a large student gathering took place in front of the Technical Faculties Building in the city center. Students blocked the busy King Alexander Boulevard for 15 minutes to pay tribute to the victims.

The most significant incident happened during a blockade at an intersection near the Faculty of Agriculture in the Zemun district of western Belgrade. A man, frustrated by the road closure, drove his car into several protesters.

Students told N1 that the blockades will continue in the coming days, as their demands remain unmet despite claims by President Aleksandar Vucic. They are calling for the release of complete documentation regarding the reconstruction of the Novi Sad Railway Station, prosecution of those who attacked students during protests, and a 20% increase in budget allocations for higher education.

The Serbian government recently published documents from the prosecutor’s investigation into the canopy collapse on its website. President Vucic announced plans to increase funding for higher education by 20%, but the decision has not yet been ratified by the government or the Serbian Parliament.

Regarding the prosecution of individuals who assaulted students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, the prosecutor’s office stated that it is acting on a criminal complaint filed by the faculty’s dean.
