Novi Sad university students called Serbia’s miners to join them in bringing about changes in the country.

An open letter said that the only way to change the system is to work together and called the miners to wake up. The letter was sent on the 3rd anniversary of the deaths of 8 miners at the Soko mine. It recalled that no one was held accountable for those deaths “which is just a reminder that we live in a corrupt system that we must fight against” and added that the attitude towards miners is impermissible.

“The system has forgotten them but we haven’t…. We want justice for every victim of the system of corruption, for everyone the state has forgotten,” the letter said.

The letter said that it’s time to break the spiral of corruption which claimed 16 lives in Novi Sad and 8 miners at the Soko mine.

“It’s time for everyone to stand in solidarity and fight together for our rights and freedom, for justice and the truth,” the letter said.
