This morning, the police blocked the way for farmers in Rumenka, a suburban area, who tried to reach the university center in city of Novi Sad.

The farmers were joined by the students, citizens and the opposition. After some time, the Gendarmerie withdrew from the Rumenica bridge and was sent off with applause.

„We promised that we would protect the students and that we would secure the students at the intersections, that we would make a ring for them so that no one could hit a single child in Serbia with a car,“ Goran Filipovic from Kisac told N1.

He also that there are a total of 17 tractors in front of the campus, but that it is possible that a little later there will be 30 of them.

On Friday night, Belgrade’s protesting students ended their general strike day in front of the Serbian state TV (RTS).

The crowd of thousands observed the daily 15 Minutes of Silence in memory of the people who died in the collapse of a concrete awning at Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1. The student protest started with demands that include accountability for that tragedy and for assaults on the protesters.
