Students: Regime media did not report Albanian president’s visit

Begaj was in southern Serbia to visit the Presevo Valley whose population is majority ethnic Albanian and borders with Kosovo. Reports a day after the visit said that the Albanian president’s entourage included a heavily armed security detail.

The Law School Students in Blockade informal group said in its Instagram post that the Albanian President did not pay an official visit to Belgrade but went to the towns of Bujanovac and Presevo escorted by the Serbian police and a security detail armed with automatic weapons. It added that Begaj was welcomed by local officials and Albanian flags.

“Begaj came to southern Serbia under the veil of media darkness as if he was in his own state. We later got a statement from the mayor of Presevo saying that Presevo and the Presevo valley are an inalienable part of the Albanian world,” it said.
