Student protesters from Novi Sad on Tuesday held a protest march under the slogan “All For One, One For All”.

After gathering outside the University of Novi Sad Rector’s Office, several hundred students marched to the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to show support for their arrested peers from the cities of Nis, Kragujevac, and Cacak.

The students emphasized that, in addition to supporting their colleagues, they also aimed to urge the Ministry of Internal Affairs to perform its duties “without bias and justly,” operating in accordance with the law.

“Institutions must be impartial! This is an abuse of power by the police,” the Novi Sad students declared.

During the march, they made noise, chanting “You won’t arrest us” and “There’s no fear,” while waving flags of Serbia and of their respective faculties from the University of Novi Sad.

The students planned to submit a request to the police for an investigation into the attacks on students during the attempted blockade of the Novi Sad City Assembly building on March 18.

“We demand to know the reasons for the arrests, who was taken into custody, and why the police apply one standard to us and another to other citizens,” said one student.

After being told at various police stations that they were not authorized to accept their request, the students concluded their gathering once a police officer informed them that he would accept their request.
